Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire is a sleepy area on the island of Montreal known as the West Island. There is a West Island, which is frequently referred to as a separate "island" located west of Montreal by those who are unfamiliar with the area, actually includes everything to the west of Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there in fact, it's true. But she only stayed for a short time. Brugel grew in Courtice close to Oshawa. She was aspiring to be dancing at first, but due to a rapid growth spurt she surpassed all the dancers she had. According to an article in The Toronto Star, she confessed, "In heels I am six feet and one inch." When I was outgrowing my male counterparts I cut off. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. As in Brugel's case she was influenced by an acting teacher in high school. The teacher was the one who advised her to audition to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. She tried it out and was cast as the lead woman on the show Anne of Green Gables. She was given an Fine Arts Talent scholarship at York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelor's degree of Fine Arts in 2000.
